Introduction: Have you ever wished there was no speed limit and could go as fast as you want on the highway? Maybe you were in a rush or you just like going fast. That's how I feel everytime I step into my car. Unfortunately the road has other drivers, some of which seem like they're trying to kill you (Video of cars almost running me off the road). Fortunately, there are racetracks specifically for going fast and safely. The pinnacle of racing is a motorsport called Formula 1, where the cutting edge of engineering and the most skilled drivers in the world come together for the fastest and one of the most demanding races. Drivers can lose around 7 pounds of weight in water in under 2 hours due to the stress on their body. They go so fast around turns that they experience forces up to 6 times stronger than gravity sideways. That's more than any roller coaster and double what astronauts feel during a rocket launch. Normal cars would never experience anything like this because Formula 1 cars are designed like upside down planes. Unlike the wings or spoilers on the back of road cars you see on the street, these wings are functional and push the car down with 3.5 times its own weight. This means that a Formula 1 car could drive upside down! However, these wings only work under high speeds which introduces a weird concept. To go fast around a corner, you have to drive faster than you would in a normal car. This is because for the wings to be any use you need to be going above a certain speed otherwise they just slow you down. The tires also need to be at a high temperature to be functional. Formula 1 tires would never work on road cars because they need to be kept between 100 and 130 degrees Celsius. Formula 1 brakes are also unique and only functional from 400 to 1000 degrees Celsius. Just starting up the engine is incredibly difficult. The driver needs a team of mechanics to help start the car. The engine can't be cold started and needs an entire process, starting with preheating the engine. This is because the engine is so tightly packed that nothing can move until the metal expands from the heat. The reason for such a tightly packed engine is that these engines need to operate in extreme conditions. Normal road cars have a gauge next to their speedometer that gives you the Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) in thousands. Typical road cars stay under 6000 while Formula 1 cars go up to 15,000 and have been known to go over 20,000. The engines also need to be cooled and their main method of cooling is by again, going fast. Formula 1 cars have giant openings to suck in air to cool the engine down. This means that the car needs to be driven at its limits or everything stop working. For this reason, Formula 1 racing is unique and incredibly difficult to learn for the average person.
The trailer is something you would see on the television while watching a formula 1 car race, so you definitely did a fantastic job doing that, but I would include more things that help you to relate to this like a personal interest, like maybe a picture of you near a formula car or driving a go kart or something of that nature!
